My art revolves around an introspective approach to emotional states. My current work involves creating a representation of my body using abstract cellular forms rendered in printed form utilizing large scale screenprints.
I utilize different body poses, mark making, and correlating colors to convey the emotional state represented in the work. I embrace both the positive and negative aspects of mental illness when creating my work, as without the darker parts to reflect on and give contrast, the lighter ones and the growth achieved to reach them don't shine as much as they should.
The cellular forms utilized in these works are a manifestation of my fascination and love of microbiology. The idea of impossibly miniscule organisms having a profound impact of the lives of macroorganisms despite requiring the assistance of a complex tool like a microscope to even see them is a source of inspiration for me.
